Need some help on how to match Suit, Shirt, and Tie? We've got' you covered!
Matching your suit, shirt, and tie is not an easy task and can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing...Here are some helpful tips.
First things first, if you are unsure on what article of clothing to start with, we suggest your most expensive item, your suit. As suits come at a high price, naturally most people only have one or two suits in their wardrobe.
Next, select a shirt in a color that compliments your suit.
The S&T app helps by telling you what color goes well with your suit. The idea is to pick a shirt color that is in the same ballpark color as your suit. For instance, if you have a navy suit, you want to choose a lighter blue shirt to go with your suit. A grey or white shirt can also be a perfect fit. Black however, should not be matched with a navy suit. A Black suit is universal and can be combined with almost any shirt or tie. Again you want to stay away from matching Navy with Black.
The last step in putting your formal attire together is picking out the right tie. This piece of your attire is what customizes your outfit and makes your outfit complete. You should have more ties than suits and shirts combined. They come in different shapes and sizes. Again, you want to select a tie color that matches your suit and shirt. Analogous colors (two colors that are next to each other on the color wheel) will create a good match as long as the colors are of the same shade.

- If you select a striped tie and a striped shirt, make sure that the stripes aren’t identical in size.
- One color in your tie should match your suit, shirt, or your belt and shoes.
- You should refrain from matching identical patterns for suit, shirt, and tie.
- When matching any patterned shirt, your safest choice is selecting a solid tie that matches one of the colors in the pattern.
- If you choose to match a patterned shirt with a patterned tie, you should go with a bolder pattern shirt and a subtler pattern tie .
